St Mary's School, Wheaton Aston

Background

Background information

St. Mary's C.E.(C) First School is a co-educational day school administered by the Staffordshire County Council Children and Lifelong Learning Directorate.

It caters for pupils from 4 to 9 years of age from the parishes of Stretton, Blymhill, Weston-under-Lizard, Lapley and Wheaton Aston. We also take a few pupils from further afield.

There has been a school in Wheaton Aston since 1853, which occupied the original site until October 1994, when it moved to the present address. The Marston Road site is a modern purpose-built Middle School premises, which was adapted for our purposes. Facilities here, for staff and pupils, are excellent, with spacious classrooms, all with interactive whiteboards and computers.

The school is set on the boundary of the village, with views over the countryside. The school's extensive grounds include:
-large school field
-dedicated playgrounds for reception, years 1 and 2, and years 3 and 4 children.
-an environmental area
-a willow structure
-pond area
